Support Us

How does an “Honor System Library” work, you ask?  It’s not possible without the continued support from the community.  Here are a few ways you can help:

Become a friend.  Friends of the library are a group of essential volunteers that participate “behind the scenes” of the library.  As a friend you can do anything from helping to shelve books, to helping with our Summer Reading Program, to making snacks for presentations, and everything in between!  The beauty of joining our group of friends is that you can volunteer as much (or as little) as you’d like.

Adopt an Author.  Do you have a favorite author that you’d like to sponsor?  Adopting an author means that whenever your favorite writer releases a new book, you have first-in-line access to the copy at the library.  Once you sign up to adopt a specific author, you will be notified of a new release,  purchase the hard cover book for the library shelves at a significantly reduced rate (usually about 45% off), and be the first to read the book.  Your donated book then goes into circulation assuring that we are able to add new releases and relevant authors to our collection at no cost the library.

Donate books, audio-books, and DVD’s.  Many of the materials that you’ll find on our shelves come from generous donations from our community.  Donations of new and slightly-used current materials is always welcome.  Due to a lack of space, we ask that no text books, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, notebooks, or reference books older than 2 years old be dropped off for donation.

Make a financial donation.  The Davies Memorial Library is a municipal library, and charitable donations to governmental units are tax deductible under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code if made for a public purpose.
