Dear Waterford Residents,

Due to the CoVID-19 health emergency, and pursuant to the advice of the Vermont Department of Health (VDoH), the Board of Directors of the Davies Memorial Library will immediately cease all physical meetings, as well as all planned library group activities, until at least May 15th, at the earliest . We expect that this date will be extended.

At this time it is the library’s intention to continue limited library functions consistent with its current operating model: self-sign out and return of library books and resources.

Concurrent with VDoH advice, the Board will suspend direct observation of the Vermont Open Meeting laws while managing library operations during the pendency of this emergency. The Board will remain in digital contact with each other and make those decisions necessary for the support of library functions during this emergency. It is the Board’s intention to regularly publicly communicate the library’s status, safety procedures at the library, and the decisions made about the library’s operation.

Vermont, and the global community, has never faced the health threat level presented by the CoVID-19 virus. In the interest of safety, the Board and library staff urge the citizens of Waterford to follow the strictest social distancing and isolation protocols. These will be stressful times for our community, state, and the nation. But there will be an end to this. In the meantime, the Board hopes that continued operation of the library will, in a small way, help keep the minds of its community members active, curious, open, and at ease until the crisis passes.

We all wish you and your family the best in luck, health, and circumstances.

Welcome to the Davies Memorial Library on-line.  As the last public honor system library in Vermont, we take pride in having one foot in our small town community and one foot in the virtual world on-line.  We hope you will visit often- both here and at the library- and take advantage of what we have to offer.  It’s truly the best of both worlds!
